Kristin Dent brings over 10 years of experience in finance, operations, and real estate management to her role as Associate Broker and Director of Accounting & Property Management at WV Commercial. Known for her precision, accountability, and hands-on leadership style, Kristin oversees all property management operations, financial reporting, and tenant relations across a diverse portfolio of commercial assets.


Before stepping into her current role, Kristin held key positions in the chemical and life sciences sector—ranging from Construction Accountant to Lead Fixed Asset Analyst—where she managed capital assets across North America. Her decision to stay rooted in West Virginia reflects her deep commitment to regional growth and revitalization.


Since joining WV Commercial, Kristin has helped modernize operations, strengthen investor reporting, and expand the firm’s service offerings. In 2025, she earned her broker’s license and now plays a critical role in shaping the future of the company, guiding it through a new era of strategic growth as founding partner Brooks McCabe transitions toward retirement.

Cathy Dent

CATHY DENT

ACCOUNTANT

Cathy Dent serves as an assistant to the Director of Accounting and Property Management.  She attended West Virginia State University where she studied Business Administration.  Mrs. Dent recently retired from the Financial Manager position that she held for over 25 years with a company that specializes in the engineering, design and fabrication of structural fiberglass product.

In her part time role at WV Commercial, she assists with the day-to-day activities, and is responsible for accounts payable and accounts receivable.

Barbara McCabe

Barbara McCabe is a native Charlestonian. She is a graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School and Denison University in Granville, Ohio. Following college, she was a residential real estate agent with Home Finders, Inc. and obtained her GRI. She has worked in the real estate business for the last 35 years, and is currently the accounts manager for West Virginia Commercial, LLC, and Fleming Commercial Properties, LLC.

General Background

Brooks F. McCabe, Jr. has been involved in commercial and investment real estate for over thirty-five years.  Mr. McCabe is an Associate Broker and Broker of Counsel to Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Great Expectations Realty, Commercial Division where he is active in commercial brokerage with BHHSGER Commercial agents.  He is currently the Managing Member and Broker of West Virginia Commercial, LLC, General Partner of McCabe Land Company, LP, and Managing Member of Fleming Commercial Properties, LLC, which are all active in commercial real estate, land, and mineral interests within West Virginia.  As broker for WV Commercial, Mr. McCabe oversees management, leasing, development, and sales for McCabe Land Company and other investments in which he is directly involved.  He also does his consulting and real estate advisory assignments through WV Commercial.

He is married to Barbara Given McCabe and has a daughter, Katie, and two grandchildren.

Work Experience:

Early in his career, Brooks served as Assistant to the Director for Planning and Development in the WV Governor’s Office of Federal/State Relations, Coordinator of the Comprehensive Housing Program, and Director of the Disaster Recovery Office.

More recently, he served four terms as a State Senator representing Kanawha County and chaired the Senate Economic Development Committee.

Currently, he is serving as a Commissioner of the WV Public Service Commission.

Education:

Brooks holds the academic degrees of Doctor of Education from West Virginia University, with concentration in planning and community development, and Master of Education (Education Administration) and Bachelor of Science (Management Engineering), both from the University of Vermont.

Honors/Awards:

Brooks has received numerous awards for his work in commercial real estate and for his public service to the State of West Virginia, including: YMCA Spirit of the Valley Award, WV Land Trust s Special Places Individual Award, The Council of State Government s Toll Fellowship, Entrepreneur of the Year for Commercial Real Estate in WV, and the United Way of Kanawha Valley Volunteer of the Year Award.

Interests:

Brooks serves as The Chief Business Commentator for The State Journal and regularly writes commentaries on business and economic development. He is also an avid reader of West Virginia history and has published several articles relating on the state s history and its economic development. He is currently working on an economic history of Charleston as seen through the eyes of four families.
